Our Story
We are the Ashe family, Anne, Simon, Rory and Lainey, Bonnie & Florrie (our two rather excitable but super friendly Irish setters).
After a tireless search in Connemara we finally found our forever home in 2013. A place where we could realise our vision of becoming self sufficient and also share our passion for Connemara and nature with others.
We are building unique, eco-conscious, design-led spaces for couples to retreat and immerse within this truly wonderful oasis of bog, native woodland and salt lake shoreline. We believe luxury lies in the simple things and that there is a growing hunger for engagement with nature. Marrying these two modern ideals we hope to offer the very best in simple luxury with unrestricted access to nature.
As part of the wonderful Trees on the Land scheme we continue to plant native species and each year harvest acorns from our forest to replant.
Our whole ethos is that we are guardians of this special place and merely passing through. We want to pass it on, hopefully to our children, knowing that we did all we possibly could to sustain its natural integrity and beauty, far into the future.
We have created our own vegetable garden and we sell any surplus veggies at our farm gate in the summer months. We produce our own beef from our herd of native Irish Dexter cows and although we have been using organic practices since the beginning we will be Certified Organic in 2023. Also in 2023 we will be introducing a turbine to our river to power the sauna and installing a solar bank to power all our cabins... Not to mention the 600 native Irish trees will be planting in March/April. Every day we are working towards becoming more sustainable and will soon be releasing our Eco Mission.
