Roundstone

Roundstone

Fernwood by the Sea!

Roundstone is where it all began for us.  Simon's father, the legendary Francis Ashe, purchased these old fisherman's store houses, in the late 90s.    We carried out a major renovation on the Quay House, rebuilding it from the ground up for it to become our first home together.  As our family grew we took the big decision to move and that is when we first dipped our toes in the holiday rental market.  It was a no brainer, as Roundstone is one of the most picturesque villages in Ireland and undoubtedly the view for the Quay will not be bet...

The village itself is a holidaymakers dream.  Great local pubs serving the freshest seafood and creamy pints of Guinness with a true village atmosphere hard to come by these days.  Located a 5 minute drive from 2 of Ireland's Top Ten beaches Dog's Bay and Gurteen, access to climb Errisbeg hill for breathtaking views of the lakes and Connemara landscape, there is no shortage of outdoor pursuits right on your doorstep.  Take a boat trip, from your front door, to explore the coast and visit the stunning island of Inishlacken, or strike up a chat with local fishermen who might be able to sell you some freshly caught mackerel or lobster...

The village is bustling in the summer and quiet in the winter but no matter when you visit there will always be a warm welcome.  Both the Quay House and Cottage are beautifully decorated, super cosy and have outstanding views from every room.  Whether you want to while away your days in the window seat watching the clouds and light constantly changing over the Twelve Bens whilst dipping into one of Tim Robinson's Connemara triology books by the fire, or get out and explore all that Connemara has to offer, this is the perfect base for you.
