A Unique Luxury Hideaway
The Stilt House is a truly unique, architecturally designed luxury hideaway, elevated above the woodland floor like a modern treehouse. Perched on 57 slender stilts and shaped around a striking elliptical form, it is Fernwood’s most ambitious project to date, created to immerse you completely in nature.
Designed by MarMar Architects and recently featured on RTE's Dermot Bannon's Super Spaces, this contemporary cabin sits lightly within the trees, blending into its surroundings while offering a sense of total escape. Floor-to-ceiling windows and a rich, forest-toned interior create the feeling of being fully enveloped by the woodland.
Step outside and the experience continues. Tucked quietly beneath the trees, your private wood-fired Swedish hot tub offers a place to unwind in complete seclusion, surrounded only by the sounds of the forest. The private lakeside sauna, just down the woodland path offers a truly unique experience.
From the moment you arrive, there is a sense that this is somewhere different. A place to slow down, switch off and experience nature in a more considered way.
Inside, the Stilt House unfolds as a quiet journey through space and light. The curved layout draws you forward, moving from more intimate, dimly lit areas to wide open views of the canopy beyond. Each window frames a different aspect, allowing the landscape to reveal itself gradually throughout the day.
The design is rooted in simplicity and restraint, inspired by Scandinavian principles of “everything you need and nothing you don’t”. Every detail has been carefully considered, creating a space that feels calm, intentional and restorative.
The king-size bed features the same premium mattress used in the The Merrion Hotel, while furniture has been locally crafted or sourced from Scandinavian design houses. A wood-burning stove, Bang & Olufsen speaker and carefully curated interiors create a space that is both refined and relaxed.
This is not just accommodation, it is an experience designed to reconnect you with nature.
Despite its secluded woodland setting, the Stilt House offers all the comforts of a luxury retreat. At 45 square metres, it feels surprisingly spacious, with the atmosphere of a private honeymoon suite.
The fully equipped kitchenette includes an induction hob, combi microwave oven and fridge with freezer compartment, along with tea, coffee and breakfast essentials to get you started. The spacious bathroom features a rain shower and a large window overlooking the native woodland.
Beyond the cabin, Fernwood invites exploration. Cross the woodland rope bridge, wander through 2km of private trails, or make your way to the lakeside sauna and plunge pool for a restorative reset.
A-rated and designed with a minimal environmental impact, the Stilt House brings together architecture, comfort and nature in a way that feels both effortless and unforgettable.
